World Lidar Day Returns for Its Third Annual Celebration on Feb. 12, 2026

Global event continues to spotlight the expanding impact of lidar technology, with celebrations leading into Geo Week 2026 in Denver, Colorado.

January 8th, 2026 — World Lidar Day returns on February 12th, 2026, marking its third annual global celebration of lidar technology and its growing influence across the geospatial industry. Building on the momentum of its first two successful years, World Lidar Day 2026 will once again bring together industry professionals, researchers, and enthusiasts to recognize lidar’s critical role in shaping the future of mapping, infrastructure, environmental analysis, and emerging technologies.

While World Lidar Day will take place a few days ahead of this year’s Geo Week conference, founding partners and supporters will nonetheless unite on February 12th to educate, collaborate, and showcase the power of lidar, continuing the tradition established in previous years. Carryover celebrations, highlights, and in-person engagement will follow at Geo Week 2026, which kicks off the subsequent week in Denver, Colorado.

Organized by a coalition of lidar advocates, World Lidar Day 2026 will highlight recent advances across the lidar and geospatial landscape, including higher-density data capture, improved accessibility through UAV and mobile platforms, and deeper integration with analytics, AI, and digital twin workflows. As lidar adoption accelerates across public and private sectors, the event aims to foster knowledge-sharing, celebrate innovation, and reinforce lidar’s value in addressing real-world challenges.

Throughout the day, partners and participants are encouraged to share educational resources, case studies, and stories illustrating lidar’s real-world impact. By using the hashtags #lidarday and #geoweek, the global community can amplify awareness and continue conversations that extend into Geo Week 2026 and beyond.

World Lidar Day invites everyone—whether participating virtually on February 12th or attending Geo Week in Denver the following week—to join the celebration and support the continued growth of lidar and geospatial technology. For more information, please visit the World Lidar Day website.
